Congratulations, Katherine, on getting your first strict pull ups! Also, shout out to Diego who got his first muscle ups the other night!
Now that we are coming to the close of Oly Month Part Two, we will be having an Oly Lifting Meet hosted by La Mar on Sunday, June 2nd. A sign up sheet will be posted this week. You must sign up to participate. This will be a GREAT opportunity for you to test your oly skills after two months of drills and practice. You will get to choose three weights you want to attempt for the clean & jerk and three weights for the snatch, and you’ll have three attempts at each weight. A supportive group will be cheering you on as you try to set some new PRs. This will be a fun event, and we highly encourage all of you to participate!
Who is going to watch regionals this weekend? We plan to go at least Saturday, and we’d love to find out who else will be going and to organize a carpool if people want to take fewer cars. Let us know!
FREE Community Class this Saturday at 8am–bring a friend or family member! There will be NO Oly Lifting class this week due to the CrossFit Regionals taking place at the Santa Rosa Fairgrounds. Go check them out, and prepare to be impressed!
Reminder: There is no regular 7pm class tonight–a new evening on-ramp group is beginning. The morning on-ramp group has completed their series, so the 7am is back to regular WODs.
Grassroots members–Jason’s company CitySolve has an urban race in SF on June 1st, and he’s giving you all a special deal if you want to participate! Check it out! http://2013sanfranciscourbanrace.eventbrite.com/?access=grassroots
Always great to brush up on the basics–read this guest post from Kelly Starrett on Mark’s Daily Apple for some pointers on movement and squatting in particular.
“Dear Society: Please assist me in convincing young girls that “strong is the new skinny”. Encourage them to eat. Don’t let them diet. Discourage the idolization of anorexic and bulimic celebrities. Make them exercise instead. Teach them that “exercise” means running, jumping, sweating, grunting, working hard, and kicking ass- it doesn’t mean flapping their arms around in some trendy, overpriced Trogalaties course, or running on the elliptical until they pass out. Help them realize their own strength.” http://sophieologie.wordpress.com/2013/04/30/strong-is-the-new-skinny/
